Project Overview

Taylors was engaged to replace the existing dust extraction system for the University of Canterbury’s forestry and woodworking facility. Our team led the project working with our sister company Airtight Solutions complete this project.

The project focuses on improving the removal of wood dust generated during processing, supporting a safer and cleaner environment for those at the facility.

The Problem

The existing dust extraction system, including ducting and baghouses, had reached the end of its operational life and was no longer meeting performance requirements. In a high-dust environment, reliable extraction is essential to protect staff, equipment, and day-to-day operations. The works also require careful coordination to minimise disruption on site.

Our Solution

The team at Taylors are specialists in manufacturing air pollution control solutions from smaller industrial solutions such as fans, to baghouses and ducting. In this project Taylors led the project management for the full scope of works, coordinating with Airtight to manufacture 2 large baghouses and ducting that would then be installed onsite. The removal of the current ducting system before installation was also a requirement. Both baghouses and ducting have been shipped to the site and all works are now being completed on site, with detailed planning and scheduling to ensure the installation progresses efficiently and safely.
