Project Overview
Taylors Manufacturing was engaged to manufacture and supply two custom 600 kW hot water boilers for the Ōtautahi Christchurch Regional Organics Processing Facility. The dual-fuel boilers are designed to operate on either biogas or diesel, providing a heat source for the facility’s organics processing operations. The biogas is generated from organic waste processed through the facility’s digesters.
Engineering Challenges
The boilers were specified for manufacture to BS 855, requiring specific materials, welding procedures and fabrication requirements.
The main pressure parts are constructed from AS 1548-7-460 boiler-quality steel plate. Particular attention was required for weld preparation and the dimensional control of the gas tube openings to ensure correct fit and installation.
Our Solution
Taylors manufactured two 600 kW dual-fuel hot water boilers, including pressure vessel components, burner mounting flanges, process connections, instrumentation nozzles, insulation and protective coatings.
Manufacturing included controlled welding procedures, documented inspections and hydrostatic testing prior to delivery.
